The Importance of Outlook

In the 12^th century, a Sufi student once traveled to where a renowned master was teaching. He said to the teacher, "I am thinking about moving here and wanted to know how the people were." The master said, “how are the people where you come from?” The student said, "they are greedy, evil, backbiting and selfish." The master said, “hmm, that’s exactly how the people are here.”

Later another disciple came to the teacher and said, "I am thinking about moving here and wanted to know how the people were." The

master asked, “how are the people where you 

come from”? The student said, they are kind, loving, thoughtful and caring. The master said, that’s exactly how the people are here.
